Will Seekers Find Good News on the Internet?

Most probably, we all have heard or read Romans 10:14 more than once: “But how are they to call on one in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in one of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him?” (New Revised Standard)

We can expand our application of that verse in light of today’s digital world. Many seekers do not start their search in churches or books when they are exploring questions of spirituality, morality, or the intersection of faith and life. They start on the Internet where they go with all of their questions 24/7.

When I find articulate preachers, engaging teachers and authentic witnesses to faith on the Internet, I am very grateful. Their real life experiences, insights into scripture, faith-inspired commentary on the moral/ethical questions with which we are daily confronted and their simple everyday wisdom are needed. I am pleased also when I find parishes, dioceses, and Catholic organizations extending a welcome to seekers and demonstrating the good that comes from living a faith-filled life.

Thank you to all of you for your commitment to this very important Internet ministry. I know that many of you face challenges and sometimes even resistance as you seek to proclaim the good news in this new way. These difficulties are a small price to pay for making the gospel available to the next generation of seekers. Keep up the good work!
