Two Sample Facebook Cover Videos
The Facebook Cover Photo/Video is a center of interest on a Facebook business/ministry Page. It can highlight the mission of the organization, special events or seasons of the year. Previously, we could only use photos, but in 2017 Facebook began to allow videos and gradually rolled out the option which I think everyone has by now. If you have not used it yet, you might consider doing so now or in the near future.
Why Consider Posting a Facebook Cover Video?
- Videos generate more interest than static photos
- People spend more time getting a sense of your parish, ministry, or organization when they view a video
- Video Covers introduce greater variety in your communications
- Videos can say more than just a single photo
Recently I created Facebook Video Covers for two parishes. Here they are:
For St. John Bosco in Parma Heights, OH:
This video features the parish tag-line, “Called to holiness. Sent to Serve.” and logo.
For St. Joseph Parish in Strongsville, OH:
This video features the tag-line, “Serving God and neighbor since 1946” and 3 photos.
For both of these videos, I used and enhanced video templates that I have. You can use whatever video resources you have to create your own. These videos can be used any time of year. I can replace them with seasonal Covers and then put them up again, if I like. These videos can also be posted on your website.
The Specifications for Facebook Cover Videos
Your cover video should be at least 820 x 312 pixels and between 20 and 90 seconds. For best results, choose a video that’s 820 x 462.
Note: None of the video producing programs that I have produce a video to these specifications. I just produce the videos to the nearest sized video (larger) and then position the video in the space allotted. Because this is the case, it is important to center text and important images so that the cropping of the video does not cut off what you want to present. You can choose to play the audio or not. The viewer can turn the audio on and off in the lower right hand corner of the Cover. If you do not have the resources to create a FB Cover Video for your parish or organization, I can create one for you. The cost is $90 for a 20-30 second video.
