Tools to Create Picture Graphics

Did you know that Facebook gives posts with photos a higher “Edgerank”? That means they are more likely to be seen by your followers. Readers pay more attention to posts with pictures and FB can include ads with them.  Posts with photos appear on more Timelines than posts which do not have pictures. (That’s right. Not everyone who follows or likes you, sees all of your posts.)

Facebook Ads on Photos:

On the left below is a picture graphic that I posted on Facebook last week.  On the right is what you see when you click on the Facebook post. Notice that there is an ad in the lower right hand corner.

How Can I Create Picture Quotes for My Posts?

The challenge for me has been to find pictures that I can use or create myself. I am not that artistic or creative and I do not have a lot of time, so I have been looking for help.

Last week I came across a blog article by Louise Myers entitled Top 10 EASY Ways to Make Picture Quotes for Facebook & More! The link was shared by Oretta Norris on her Facebook page SocialMediaHive. I read the article and tested the apps I thought would be helpful to me. Here are my findings.

I used Quozio.com to create some quotation graphics like the example above. I just put in the text, selected the background (a good number of options) and then posted it to Facebook and Pinterest. With Pinterest I could also post to Twitter. It has a bookmarklet also, which allows me to highlight a text I am reading and paste it to Quozio automatically. This is very nice.

Then I tried to find one that I could use with photos I take myself. Here is what I created on PicMark

I uploaded my photo. Selected the frame and typed in the caption. That was pretty easy, too.

I created the photo below on Pinwords.

Pinwords gives several options for the text. I used the handwriting one for this photo. You post the photo to Pinterest and then you can share it on social media. You can also save it to your computer.

Finally, I created this one on Pixlr.com. This site is probably better for those of you who are more comfortable with drawing tools. I just used the text box, but it has many other features

Conclusion

I am very happy that I found these tools and will be using them to upgrade my future Facebook posts. Hopefully, this will help me to get my posts onto more Timelines.

If you want to learn more about how Facebook ranks posts and why they value photos, this infographic explains it very simply: Edgerank Infographic.

My next blog post will be April 9. Have a very blessed Holy Week and Happy Easter!

I tend to just use Photoshop Elements which came for free with one of my digital cameras a long time ago.
