Tips for Virtual Presentations
When we look back at 2020, organizations, dioceses, parishes, and individuals will remember becoming “virtual” for just about everything. Even those most reluctant to use the Internet found themselves turning to Facebook, Zoom, Skype, Messenger, etc. to serve their members, connect with their families, their doctors and just about everyone else. Virtual Masses, instructions, group meetings, trainings, concerts and presentations became normal.
There was an understandable learning curve for those in ministry who started communicating virtually. There were so many details: the recording device (phone, camera, computer), the lighting, the background, and the audio. Then there was presentation of the content. Some mastered the technology faster than others and delivered communications in a very professional way. They kept learning as they went along.
If you are interested in improving your virtual presentations, this video by Melissa Barber, Founder of Purpose Productions, LLC, is worth watching. It is highly likely that at least one of her tips could improve your next online presentation. Melissa avoids jargon, is very positive and provides quick examples-all in just six and a half minutes.
If there was a tip that you especially liked, list it in the comments below. If you have been doing online presentations–tell us the most important thing you have learned so far or what your biggest challenge has been.
Through her company Melissa offers pre-production to staging to performance for keynotes, concerts and conferences. In 2020 many of her productions were virtual. For more details, visit her website Purpose Productions, LLC.

I have found that meeting with an overhead light works great! Also, regarding audio, I really appreciated hearing that closeness to the microphone makes for the best audio. I appreciated this video – simple, but very helpful tips and reminders. Thanks!
