Parish Lenten Outreach Video
Video is an excellent platform to get our message to large groups of people. Last week the Paulist Center in Boston released this video as part of their Lenten outreach.
According to their website, this one-minute video is a short version of a 10-minute video also on their site. What I like about this video is that it is:
- short
- has a variety of narrators
- has a combination of quality photos and video
- focuses on the actions of the people
- a way to drive traffic to Center’s website by including web address on the last slide
- communicates its message that “all are welcome” and demonstrates that all are served
Bill Mitchell, a parishioner of the Center, gives his comments on the parish and the video in this article Finding a parish I can love aligned with a pope I can follow. He personalizes the impact Pope Francis has had on himself and many others. People like Bill want the same church that Pope Francis wants.
The Paulist Fathers with whom I worked for many years are talented communicators committed to compassionate outreach, especially to those who have left the church or are in need of any kind. This video is one example of that. What do you think of it? If your parish produced a one-minute video, what would you want to communicate?
Note: If you follow Catholic Web Solutions on Facebook and have not been seeing my posts recently, it is because of a new algorithm being used by Facebook which selects who will see which posts. For this Facebook page, I find and post links to articles that will help people in ministry keep up with Internet trends and best practices. (FYI: This year, I am also posting a cartoon a week so that we don’t get too serious about ourselves.) If you want to be sure to receive notice of those posts on your timeline, please go to the CWS Facebook page, click the down arrow next to Liked and select “get notifications.” That should take care of the problem. You might want to do this with other pages that have mysteriously “dropped off” your timeline. Thank you very much.
