Image Sizes for Social Media Posts

If you are posting images on social media pages for your ministry or organization, you already know that using the right sized image to begin with saves you a lot of time and helps you convey your message over desktops and mobile devices equally well. Keeping up with the best sizes for each platform is a challenge, because they (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.) are constantly tweaking their requirements to be responsive to the various devices used. More than 50% of people on social media are connecting via mobile devices these days. Knowing and using the optimal size of image is important.

Enter Louise Myers. “Louise is a graphic design expert whose designs have been featured by Disney, Macy’s, WalMart and more.” Louise keeps up with the social media size changes and shares a Social Media Cheat Sheet which she updates regularly on her website. Her skill and experience as well as her gift for simple, concise descriptions and helpful guidelines—make her site a great resource.

Below is her Cheat Sheet updated January 10, 2017. I recommend that you visit her site at the link below the infographic and read her brief comments on the various platforms that are covered in the infographic. You will also find there a link to a printable version of the Cheat Sheet if you are a member of her site. Membership is free, so if you are not a member, I recommend that you sign up. I keep a copy of this Cheat Sheet in a plastic sleeve on top of my desk all the time for ready reference.

Read Louise’s post and check out the other resources that she provides. You will be glad that you did.
