How to Create a YouTube Account and Channel

If you have created one or more videos for your ministry website or Facebook page or other social media sites, set up a YouTube account and upload them if you have not already done so. As you create more videos, you will have a place to post them immediately. YouTube is the second largest search engine. If someone is looking for your organization, parish, or ministry, there is a good chance that they will check YouTube and be very happy to find you there.

When you upload a video to YouTube, you have the option to make it Public, Private or Unlisted. You can allow or not allow others to embed your video on their websites.  You have more control over you videos than you may think. Also, you will be able to share your videos to other social media platforms right from YouTube if you choose to.

Here is a video on how to set up a YouTube Channel and Account.

When you set up your channel be sure to write an engaging and informative description of your ministry, parish, etc. including your website address.  When you upload videos do the same.  Also, if you are a parish or a diocese, put your city or location in the tag area.  This makes it easier for people who are searching to find you.

My YouTube channel is  here. If you have a YouTube channel for your ministry, please share the link in the comments below.

We’ve had a YouTube channel for years and it’s very successful. It’s a good tool for evangelization and outreach about vowed religious life.

Michele, I looked at the YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/theursulines and like it very much. I especially like your introductory video done especially for YouTube. Great idea! Keep up the good work!

    Susan,
Thanks for the info and video about YouTube – I use Animoto to create and post videos on our website. Could I upload an Animoto video to YouTube? Would I need to use another program to create the video, e.g. IMovie?

    Marilou,
You can post your Animoto videos to YouTube. In fact, I think you can do it directly through Animoto once you have the YouTube channel set up. Use the Share option for YouTube.

I have not used Animoto for a long time. If anyone is currently using it and and has uploaded videos, please let us know. Thank you.

When you are “Publishing” your Animoto video, you will see on the right side the various options you have – email, share, tweet, link, YouTube, etc. Just click on YouTube and you will go through the process to export your video to your YouTube channel. If you have already completed your publishing process, go back and “edit” your video and then click on “produce” which will bring you to the window you need to get to the options.

I’m encouraged to do more research because the tutorial went too fast for me. Thank you.
