Facebook Increases Website Traffic

Whenever, I poll readers about their web presence concerns, getting more traffic to their websites either tops the list or is very close to the top. In this post today, I want to show you three ways you can drive traffic to your website with your organization’s Facebook page.

First, in the About section, underneath your organization’s profile photo, be sure to include your website address. Here is an example from the CatholicTV.com Facebook page

Catholic TVSecond, you can post links to your website when you have new and interesting content or something that you want to promote. Here is an example of a post on the Facebook page of the Sisters of Mercy which links to an article on their website about their commitment to justice.

Third, you can create a custom App (used to be called a Tab), under the Facebook Cover photo which links back to your website. Here is an example of an App on the St. John Bosco Parish, Parma Heights, Ohio, page that takes followers to the pastor’s blog on the parish website:

Facebook App

Here is a link to a site that will help you to create a custom app for free. For more information on creating custom Apps you may wish to read this article by Louise Myers on How to Create Custom Tab Images for your Facebook Timeline Fan Page.

The strategy, of course, is to lead people to your website where they will find other items of interest as well. Used correctly, Facebook can be one of the top referrers to your website.

If you have additional suggestions on how to use Facebook to drive traffic to an organization’s website, please list them below. Thank you.
