As we get set to begin this conference on Digital Discipleship with Intercative Connections, this article deserves mentioning, which I will do. Thanks. Tony

    Great thoughts!

I like this, “Our challenge is to find new ways of initial and ongoing contact.”

The Holy Father is always warning about the dangers of superficial contact on the internet and not to loose the face to face. I think the internet will become a great way to initiate contact and conversations that we can later turn into face to face contact. That is, the local Church can use the internet to draw in perspective members or the unchurched. I see great potentials for extending our reach as you point out.

    Thanks for the post!

I took the time to read the Holy Father’s complete document. Thank you for the reference. The invitation for outreach is challenging and exciting. The Gospel demands that we utilize this gift of human genius for the kingdom. Thanks much.

I always look forward to the World Communications Day message, and our Holy Father always gives us great wisdom in these documents! I am pondering the call to be truly “authentic” in our online ministry – that our digital apostolates and our “real life” situations be in total congruence. It can be tempting to be one-sided in our online communications. The message also reminds me to use the tools at my disposal to build up the kingdom, and never to drag it down. I look forward to a continued convesation on the importance of truth and authenticity online.
