Celebrate Pentecost on Social Media
The Easter season culminates with the Feast of Pentecost—that day when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and disciples in the upper room with such force and impact that they immediately forgot their fears and rushed out into the street to proclaim Jesus Christ risen from the dead. What a day it must have been!
Here we are more than two thousand years later still receiving the grace, the strength, the courage, the zeal that comes from the Holy Spirit. We have the gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. We can see the fruits of the Holy Spirit in our own lives and the lives of others: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The more we practice them, the stronger and more visible they become.
This week is a great time to remind ourselves and others of the importance of Pentecost and the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Social media is a great place to do that. There is still time to do something. Here are three suggestions for your ministry Facebook Page:
- Create a Spirit-themed Facebook Cover
- Post anticipatory Pentecost content on all or some of the days preceding Pentecost
- Post something very special on Pentecost itself.
What about your website? Can you post a Pentecost element there this week?
Here are some images that I created for my parish clients this week which you are free to use. Click on an image and you will see it larger. Write short, thoughtful descriptions to go with the images that you choose.
Here is a video that you can also use:
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful. And kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your spirit and they shall be created. And you shall renew the face of the earth.

One thing I often find with videos like this is that the background music is so annoying that I end up turning it off (I made 14 seconds into the pentecost video above before hitting pause 🙂
One wonderful resource I have found is freemusicarchive.org … there is a wide variety of genres, and the music can be used with proper accreditation.

Thank you for the feedback, Marika. Music preferences are a matter of personal taste. It appears that the music for this video does not appeal to you. Just so you know, I chose this music for its dramatic quality to convey the power of the Holy Spirit unleashed on Pentecost.
